The College Board, which owns the SAT and PSAT, announced a new test will be available to schools next fall. This new test will be aimed at eighth graders and is only for instructional use and not for college admissions preparation. However, critics are dubbing it the “pre-pre-pre SAT,” and point at the potential for the test prematurely push the college race into younger and younger children.
The test will cost less than $10 and the results will only be shared with teachers, parents, schools, and students. The College Board cites that a large number of schools have expressed a strong interest in the new test.
