In this lesson, our instructor Ron Schooler gives an introduction to state consolidation and imperial expansion. He discusses the empires strike back, competition over trade routes, competition for trade routes, lots of places to hide out, piracy or privateering, Sir Francis Drake, state rivalries, large scale sieges, local populations exploited, towns ransacked, massive battles, King Gustavus Adolphus O Sweden, the Belligerents, Holy Roman Empire, local resistance to Empire, and peasant uprise to Tokugawa Shogante.
